New Release: The Voices of Angels by Peggy Jaeger

THE VOICES OF ANGELS
book 4 of The MacQuire Women series

by

Peggy Jaeger

Official genre of book: Contemporary romance

Love is the last thing Carly Lennox is looking for when she sets out on her new book tour. The independent, widowed author is content with a life spent writing and in raising her daughter. When newscaster Mike Woodard suggests they work on a television magazine profile based on her book, Carly’s thrilled, but guarded. His obvious desire to turn their relationship into something other than just a working one is more than she bargained for.

Mike Woodard is ambitious, and not only in his chosen profession. He wants Carly, maybe more than he’s ever wanted anything or anyone else. As he tells her, he’s a patient man. But the more they’re together, Mike realizes it isn’t simply desire beating within him. Carly Lennox is the missing piece in his life. Getting her to accept it-and him-may just be the toughest assignment he’s ever taken on.

“Your pulse is racing.”

Carly swallowed. “It always does when I’m hungry. Hypoglycemia or...something.”

One corner of Mike’s mouth drifted up. “Liar.”

Before she could respond, his mouth came down on hers, taking it captive, driving her insane.
Her head careened backward to allow him full access into her soul. Letting go of her wrist, he spanned her waist with both hands.

“Why were you blushing?” he asked, never completely moving free from the kiss.

“I, I’m hot. It’s hot in here.”

Mike’s hands roamed down over the back of her jeans to cup her butt. She gasped when he began kneading the flesh through her pants.

“You’re a liar, Carly, and we both know it.”

“You keep saying that,” she murmured as his tongue skimmed across her top lip. “It’s insulting. Oh.”
Mike pushed her from behind, molding the length of her body to his. Through the fabric of their clothes, she felt his unmistakable arousal and her entire body trembled with excitement. With each thrust of his tongue inside her mouth, another drop of her control slipped away.

“Deny you feel something right now,” Mike whispered into her ear, his warm breath robbing her of all sentient thought. “Or when I do this,” he added, sliding down the curve of her neck. “Go ahead and deny it and tell me you’re not lying.”

Liza waits anxiously for Seduced in Spain by Devika Fernando

It's finally here!!!

On March 29th, Seduced in Spain –
Romance Round the World, Book 2 Releases.
Devika will be giving away 3 ebooks.

Seduced in Spain

by Devika Fernando

BLURB:

Sometimes all that two people need to make things right is a second chance…

Nine years ago, Alejandro broke Emily's heart, but a business trip to Spain forces her to be in his company again. Old wounds are reopened and new temptations complicate things even more. When life leaves her no choice, she realizes that sometimes the heart doesn’t listen to the brain. Will Emily win the battle against her forbidden desire and Alejandro’s charm, or will history repeat itself?

GIVEAWAY:

3 eBooks of SEDUCED IN SPAIN

EXCERPT:

“Better?”

Emily suppressed a squeak. Speak of the devil… Alejandro stood so close their arms touched, towering about over her and also staring up at the sky while breathing in deeply. His scent and heat and nearness flooded and floored her. She swallowed and answered with a wobbly “yes”.

“Next time I make you labor like a slave-driver, please let me know,” he said. “You must be regretting you accepted the job.”

“No, I don’t.”

The words were out before she could stop herself, and she realized their truth. All complications and the nagging voice in her brain aside, she did not regret her decision.

Alejandro turned and peered closely at her. The illumination from the street lamps nearby made his chiseled features stand out, his prominent cheek bones and strong jaw looking as hard as if cut out of marble. Oh yes, he was a statue of a man. One of those Greek gods, a modern-day Adonis, but from Spain rather than Greece.

Dammit, there she went again!

He was still staring at her. Was he trying to figure out whether she had merely given the appropriate reply or really meant it? Not ready to face any deep discussions, Emily hitched the strap of her bag higher up her shoulder. Alejandro’s gaze followed the movement, and an odd look crossed his face. With a half-smile, he said softly, “You’re still doing that.”

“What?”

His smile intensified. He reached out and slowly traced a long finger across the strap of her bag until it rested lightly on the back of her hand. She realized only then that her fingers had been clenching and unclenching around the leather strap, tugging and twisting.

“I remember how you used to adjust your bag and worry the strap every time you were nervous those days,” he said in the same soft voice laced with an emotion she couldn’t place.

His finger was still on her hand, a feather-light touch that had her frozen. His gaze traveled back to her face, and she drowned in it. Somewhere deep inside, the lines crisscrossing her broken heart cracked upon, slowly but surely. Why? Why did he have to drag up memories like a child worrying a dried scab and making a half-healed wound bleed again?

While I'm buying this book to keep, so I can read it again, I did receive an ARC so I could review it and give you an idea of the fun that awaits you...

Seduction in Spain occurs in Spain, but we not only wander about Spain, we go back and forth in time, so sit back for a fun and bumpy ride.

Our heroine, Emily, begins the story as the Personal Assistant of an ‘over-friendly boss’—if you know what I mean. They attend a conference of all the major players in the tourism/hotel business. There she meets the love of her past, Alejandro, the man who broke her heart, who claimed he loved her one day then never spoke to her again.

When we get into his head, we are surprised to discover his memory of the past is quite different.

Clearly someone has mixed up the past… but fixing the past is never easy, especially when so much resentment resides in them both and certain people still wish to keep them apart.

Every book I’ve read by Devika Fernando I’ve loved, and this one is no exception.

The story has more than one mystery to solve before the two former lovers can be together. It will keep you entertained from beginning to end. I read it in one sitting.

AUTHOR BIO:

Almost as soon as Devika Fernando could write, she imagined stories and poems. After finishing her education in Germany and returning to her roots in Sri Lanka, she got a chance to turn her passion into her profession. Having lived in Germany and in Sri Lanka with her husband has made her experience the best (and the worst) of two totally different worlds - something that influences her writing. Her trademark is writing sweet and sensual, deeply emotional romance stories where the characters actually fall in love instead of merely falling in lust.

What she loves most about being an author is the chance to create new worlds and send her protagonists on a journey full of ups and downs that will leave them changed. She draws inspiration from everyone and everything in life. Besides being a romance novel author, Devika is a faithful servant to all the cats and dogs she has adopted. When she's not writing, she's reading or thinking about writing.

ANY EXTRA INFO ABOUT THE BOOK:

Book 2 of the Romance Round the World Series can be read as a stand-alone with a happy ending. The same applies to Book 1, Saved in Sri Lanka.

EXCERPT

He was responsible for her withdrawal, which made him feel like an asshole. He shouldn’t have gone bi-polar on her. He should have managed his emotions better. It wasn’t her fault he’d had a shitty love life. And it was not her fault if he couldn’t keep his damn lustful body in check.

Those thoughts didn’t help Declan, but caused new graphic scenes to invade his mind. For a while, he let himself indulge in them. If Keira were to stay, he would find a way to know her better.

I’d love to spend hours getting to know her—every little inch of her.

He closed his eyes imagining her perfect body under his—felt her silken skin under his fingertips. He wanted to kiss her until they were both breathless, discover her secret spots: what made her tick, moan, and shout his name.

“Declan!” her clear voice yanked him from the daydream. He looked at Keira, still in a daze, and she smiled. “The check please.”

He was mortified at the bulge in his pants, which prevented him from going to the table without making a bigger fool of himself than he had already made. So he pretended to study some papers instead.

“What’s your room number? I’ll add the check to your room bill.”

“Don’t I have to sign it?”

“Not necessary,” he lied, I’ll have to sign it myself because there’s no way in hell I can stand up right now, you little bewitching thing

AUTHOR Bio and Links:

When Liz Gavin was in Second Grade - just a couple of years ago, really - her teacher told her mother the little girl should start a diary because she needed an outlet for her active and vivid imagination. She was a talkative child who would disrupt the class by engaging her colleagues in endless conversations. She loved telling them the stories her grandfather used to tell her.

Apparently, the teacher wasn’t a big fan of those stories, and Liz’s mother bought her a diary. She happily wrote on it for a couple of months. Unable to see the appeal of writing for her own enjoyment only, she gave up on it. She missed the audience her friends provided her in class. She went back to disturbing her dear teacher’s class.

Since then, she has become a hungry reader. She will read anything and everything she can get her hands on – from the classics to erotica. That’s how she has become a writer of erotica and romance, as well.

As a young adult, she participated in a student exchange program and lived in New Orleans for six months. She fell in love with the city and its wonderful inhabitants. NOLA will always hold a special spot in Liz Gavin’s heart. Nowadays, living in Brazil, Liz’s creativity has improved many times because it’s such a vibrant, gorgeous and sexy country.

Let's go to the movies with Melissa Keir and Protecting Her Pigg

Welcome to Liza's theatre!
Today, we have a fabulous video show.

Melissa Keir shares her Protecting Her Pigg book trailer:  Arson  and fire bring them together, but what will cause the most damage…the arsonist bent on revenge or their own stubborn ways?

That was a fabulous book trailer! How'd it come to be?

More and more authors are using the idea of movie trailers for their books. These book trailers are becoming more widespread as authors are trying to find new ways to promote their books and bring in more sales. But do they work?

Most authors that I’ve spoken with, as well as research, has shown that book trailers DO NOT increase book sales although a book trailer does add some additional pizzazz to your website and make a wonderful addition to your book’s promotions. They are not what drives people to buy your book.

My Own Experiences:
I myself use book trailers on my website as a value added feature to my book. When I design a page on the website about my book, I include the blurb, cover and excerpt in addition to a book trailer. I feel that it gives another glimpse at my story through my eyes.

With book trailers, you decide on the way your characters appear and the main points you want to highlight about the book. The trailers haven’t increased my sales but provide readers with a bonus feature like a music playlist.

I’m not skillful with the movie programs yet so I’ve contracted with two people to create the book trailers for me. Tamaria Soana from Shades of Rose makes all my book trailers. She is fabulous and enjoys making them (what a great big plus). In addition, she works hard to get my own ideas of the characters and the images, making it as much my vision as hers.

Well, I have to admit, it really brought the characters to life. It made me want to your buy your book again.

Liza reviews The Founders by Holly Barbo

THE FOUNDERS

Book 1 of the Sage Seed Chronicles

AUTHOR: Holly Barbo

GENRE: YA Fantasy
There are no monsters on Ose. People can be monstrous enough.

Disaster strikes the beautiful world of Ose. Marisily is one of the Sages who can help heal the planet when nuclear winter pushes the civilization back to the brink of destruction. Only she doesn’t know her own powers yet.

It is survival of the fittest as vicious outlaws destroy all that remains, kidnapping, enslaving and killing those weaker than themselves.

With a bounty on her head, alone and betrayed by her own father, can a young woman find the strength and wisdom necessary to rally the good people of Ose and rebuild their culture?

Sari worsened as the day wore on. She was too weak to fight off the effects of the abuse and the fever at the same time. Marisily was at her mother’s side when she died. She closed her mother’s eyes and wrapped her in a clean sheet. Then she sat at her mother’s side and rocked back and forth as the tears rolled down her cheeks. Eventually, her sobbing breaths quieted and she wiped her cheeks.

Dazed, Marisily resumed her duties. She had made a stew in the afternoon with the thought that the broth would be nourishing for her mother. Now she served it to her father for dinner. Jed came in from his workroom and started eating when Marisily quietly said, “Mother’s dead. I have prepared her for burial.”

Jed gave his daughter a long look before he answered. Marisily sensed he was considering saying something that she wouldn’t like and she steeled herself for it, but when he spoke all he said was, “I am sorry to hear that. She was a good wife. The only thing she didn’t do was give me a son. I’ll move her body to the workshop before I go out tonight.” He scooped another piece of meat from the stew and chewed thoughtfully. “Daughter, I don’t think I can continue to support you. I will give you a choice. Rory, the herder, needs a wife. He’s a friend of mine. I don’t believe he has ever cleaned his place and though he is eight years older than me, he is lusty enough to keep you busy. I think he could take you to wife tomorrow. Or you could leave. It makes no difference to me. As your father, I don’t need to give you a choice, but since I’m grieving the loss of your mother, I will be generous. If you are still here tomorrow morning, I’ll know your decision is to wed.” He finished his meal and pushed back from the table. “I am going into Morraton to meet with friends. I’ll bring my new wife home after I bury Sari tomorrow.” Jed put on his heavy coat and smiled to himself as the door closed behind him. He didn’t believe his daughter had enough warm clothing to survive. She would either set out tonight and freeze to death or would stay and leave with Rory tomorrow. It didn’t make any difference to him. She would be gone either way.

Marisily cleared the table, giving her father time to go down the trail to town, keeping an eye on the window until he disappeared from sight. There was no way she was going to remain. Angry at her father’s offhand comments, total insensitivity and arrogance, she was also fully aware of her danger. Marisily had been very lucky that her father had given her a choice. She had been thinking about where she would go. There was a place that she had seen several years before. At the time, Jed had been gone on a journey to obtain yarns spun in Osily. Sari and Marisily had ranged miles from the cabin picking berries. They had separated, to cover more area. Marisily thought hard about where that place was. They had meandered through the foothills during that gathering trip.

She brought out her coat, and put on all of her warmest clothes as well as a few things of her mother’s. Her father would never allow her to leave with anything he deemed his property and that included everything in the home. Marisily knelt by her bed and, rolling back the rug, she removed the floorboard. She pulled out a heavy, knitted hat, scarf and gloves that she had made for her mother’s upcoming birthday and donned them. Her mother would be happy that she was using the gift to survive. Quickly, Marisily emptied her secret cubbyhole of her journal and other small treasures. Gathering what she could carry that she felt her father wouldn’t miss, Marisily stepped outside and disappeared from her childhood home. She had no intention of ever coming back.

Liza Reviews The Founders

There is so much to love about this epic novel.
There are a lot of characters, but never once did I get confused who was who. That’s a grand accomplishment.

But what I really enjoyed was the world building. The story opens after years of harsh weather due to a comet striking the planet. What’s really sad is that they should have possessed the knowledge to reduce the damage and speed the healing process. Instead, far too many regressed into the worst of humanity, abusing women, refusing to educate their children, stealing from others rather than pulling their own weight. In truth, they are at the tipping point of total self-annihilation.

Marisily is the daughter of one of the clever brutes. He appears to be a hardworking fellow, but he’s involved in a great deal of black deeds. He even kills his wife so he can take a younger girl who can give him a son. The moment Marisily’s mother dies from his abuse and neglect, he tells Marisily she can either leave or marry an old man who’s looking for a wife. Since leaving would normally be a death sentence, he thinks he’s being clever yet again.

Marisily not only leaves, but she blossoms into the grand young woman she was always meant to be.
What I like is that she didn’t achieve this by doing everything herself. Nope. She has lots of help from others who are also sages.

While long, the book never falters. You’ll be captivated. I especially liked that all the animals were sentient and could talk to the sages.

Intriguing from beginning to end with a very satisfying ending.

Holly's world is shaped by her love of family, the beauty of the natural world and an irrepressible creative drive. She has always been curious and sees life through questions. These four characteristics color her writing voice and her stories frequently evolve from her asking "What if....?" Her tales tend to have non-urban settings with nature contributing to the plot, building discordant themes inside a seemingly peaceful refrain.

My motto: Weaving Alternative Worlds with Threads From Today.
