Howdy Peeps! Today we have Nikki Lynn Barrett interviewing her characters from Baby Stetson. Big round of applause for Nikki, please.
Nikki: Hello! Joining me today are my characters from Baby Stetson. World, meet Avery and Lucas!
Uh, guys. Can you pay attention to me for a little bit?
LUCAS: <Flashes a smile> Hey world. How's it going?
NIKKI: Baby Stetson has been released into the wild....how
do you two feel about that? Are you
enjoying the publicity?
LUCAS: Well, I am after awhile...you did take your time
making me into a better person. <Glares>
AVERY: Lucas, leave
her alone! <shoots an apologetic look
at Nikki>
NIKKI: What is this, pick on your author day?
LUCAS: It's only fair. <Shrugs>
AVERY: <Shakes head, laughing> I, for one, am enjoying it. It feels good! Just like when I'm on stage, I don't really
get nervous anymore.
NIKKI: Well that's good to know. What do you hope readers will say about you?
LUCAS: That I'm the
hottest man ever.... <moves away when Avery jabs him in the chest> Ow! Okay, okay....I want readers to learn
about the real me....I feel a little weird about everyone seeing this new side
of me, but I'm getting used to it. I'm
not just a jaded guy...
AVERY: I love this
side of you, Lucas. <Smiles> As
for me...I hope readers will feel a sense of love. The story is full of family,
love and relationships. Though
everything has it's highs and lows, it worked out for the best. <takes
Lucas's hand in hers>
LUCAS: That's for sure.
NIKKI: Yeah, you two
sure had a wild ride. I know, I
know...it's my fault. But look at you now.
What are you hoping for in book 2?
AVERY: That Jameson gets his own happily ever after...I know
he's still hurting, and it's hard to see him beat himself up the way he has.
LUCAS: He really is a good guy...I never expected to be good
friends with an ex of the woman I love, but
Jameson and I have hit if off well.
AVERY: Just one more person to team up and pick on me
<Laughs>
NIKKI: Do you know how many people team up and pick on me? I
go through that all the time, Avery...sorry that it rubbed off on your
character. What did you enjoy most about your story?
LUCAS: <Wraps his arms around Avery, kissing her
cheek.> Finding a woman that
completes me. She understands me, and though I have faults, she still looks at
me with love every day. That's an amazing feeling, and I wouldn't trade it for
anything. So despite the hell you put me
through, Nikki....you gave me everything I ever wanted when you set me up with
Avery.
AVERY: Way to compliment and throw our author under
the bus at the same time, Luke.
<giggles> For me, I loved that I
finally learned about my past...and of course, that I met Lucas.
NIKKI: One last question, and I'll let you two go and have
your fun. What is your favorite line from the story?
AVERY: This line, Lucas says a lot. And it touches
my heart every time: “I want to feel
everything with you, Avery.” <Looks at Lucas>
LUCAS: And I still stand by that. You're the world to me, Avery. As for mine...Hmm.. The night in the
hospital, when you said “Stay with me,
Luke.”
AVERY: Why that one?
LUCAS: <Squeezes her hand> Because, at that time we
didn't have a chance to talk about that fight, and despite the last time we saw
each other before the storm, and everything else...you wanted me there with
you. I hated that you were so upset with me, but that night, you still wanted
me there. I realized that I still had a
chance, and that I could still do whatever it took to make it right.
AVERY: Oh Luke...
LUCAS: It was one of the scariest moments of my life...i
thought I had lost that chance. So when you uttered those words...
NIKKI: That was an emotional night. I was in tears when I wrote that. It really wasn't easy. Thank you both for coming with me, and even though
Lucas had a little too much fun picking on me, I had a blast.
LUCAS: Come on, I pick on you because I like you. Boy, I
think I stole that line from your husband, Nikki Won't he be so proud?
AVERY: Yeah...You
leave her husband out of this...you already do plenty of picking. <grins sheepishly> Thanks for letting us tag along with you. I
hope that readers enjoy our story.
NIKKI: <Laughing.> Yeah, he'd be proud Lucas. Have fun you two. I guess we'll be talking
later as we work on book 2. <turns to
Liza> I appreciate you letting us invade your blog. :)
Liza: Are you kidding? I love having you take charge. Peep Rep didn't give me hard time for once.
NIKKI: Where is Peep Rep?
Liza: No idea. He must be tied up.
Peep Rep: I'm here.
Liza: Shoot!
Peep Rep: You didn't start without me, did you?
NIKKI: I'm sorry Peep Rep, I did.
Liza: No talking to Peep Rep, Nikki. Peep Rep, if you don't arrive on time, we start without you.
Peep Rep: But I woke up tied in blue rope.
Liza: Really? How odd. How'd you get out?''
Peep Rep: Jess chewed through the rope.
Liza: I'll have to talk to Jess about that.
*sighs*
Water under the bridge.
*smiles at Nikki*
Can you tell us about Baby Stetson?
Baby Stetson
Love and Music in Texas, Book One
In small Texas towns,
strangers come and go...
Left in a Stetson hat, on the steps of the local bed and breakfast, Avery Callimer came into the world on a wing and a prayer. Raised by loving adoptive parents, she's never lacked for love...only the knowledge of her past.
By day she works the Inn, but by night...Avery comes alive as lead singer in a band. Life was good...stable, until new guests blew into town.
Some strangers come with secrets and lies.
Lucas Bennett is one such stranger. Drifting from one mess to another has left him jaded. Doesn't matter the dramas are never his doing. Giving it one last shot to make a fresh start lands him Harmony's Echo, Texas and smack dab in front of the tantalizing Avery.
Despite his best efforts to ignore the burn Avery's ignited within, he's intent to keep his distance. Secrets have followed him. Secrets he doesn't want Avery to know.
Each time they're near the other things heat up like a brushfire on a dry Texas prairie.
But maybe, after the dust settles and the smoke clears, love can bloom with a fresh start.

Liza: How about an excerpt?
As the tide pulled back,
Lucas stopped, and waited for the next round of waves to come ashore. When they did, Avery shrieked, then laughed afterwards. The water was
chilly! As the waves slapped his
ankles and then retreated, Lucas laughed, pulling Avery further in. She resisted, shivering.
“Come willingly, or I’ll get you,” Lucas threatened, pulling her close to him.
“You wouldn’t dare do what I think you’re planning.” Avery narrowed her eyes.
“Oh?” That was a dare Lucas had to take. Avery started to back away. Lucas was faster. He smiled as
he swooped her up in his arms and carried her a little further into the water. When they were waste deep
in the ocean, the water slammed against Avery’s bottom, she screamed and kicked her legs, holding on
tight to his neck.
“Don’t do it!” she cried. She was shivering. She had a strong hold on him, begging him not to drop her.
“Don’t do what? Drop you?” Lucas laughed. Yeah, that water was cold, but he couldn’t go back on his
dare now. The horror on Avery’s face only made it worth it more. Lucas released his grip on her and
she plunged into the water. She’d never let him go, so Lucas went down with her. Fully submerged in
the chilled waters, he was just as shocked. When they both raised their heads from the water, Lucas
made a grab for her. “You will pay major for that, Avery Callimer, that’s a promise. I will get you.”

Liza: Thanks for stopping by Nikki and bringing your characters.
Nikki: It was fun.
Peep Rep: Hold on! Did Nikkie give a prize away?
Liza: *winks at Nikki and crosses fingers behind her back* Yes, she gave away a convertible mustang.
Peep Rep: What!?! Oh that's the best prize ever! I can't believe I missed it.
Liza: You snooze, ya loose.
