One of my absolute favorite delights is to come up with original story ideas. I love to cast characters nobody else has used and pair them with someone you’d never suspect.
My conceptual idea first surrounded my character’s name—Monica Beggs. Next, I wanted her occupation. And with a name like that, there was only one direction to go — Porno.
Outside of watching a few skin flicks, my knowledge of the porno movie business seemed sparse. I worked to educate myself on everything from lighting and location, to Jenna Jamison’s efforts to start an Adult Film Actor’s Union which would install condoms as an industry standard. (Here)
Go Jenna!
In learning more about this little known yet highly visual occupation, I hope my heroine comes across as one of the shiny few who have brains and beauty while staying drug free.
Monica Beggs

Monica Beggs is more than the hottest porn star out on DVD--she's Finn Daniel's next assignment.
Lights. Camera. Lube?
Famous porn star Monica Beggs wrapped up another grueling on-location movie shoot when the Colombian cartel attempted to kidnap her. Their guns are as real as the price on her pretty head.
Former Special Ops and present day surfer, Finn Daniels recognizes a lady in distress when he sees one—especially if it’s his adult film crush being hustled out the door. He’s no longer in the business of busting up the underworld, but that doesn’t deflect his moral compass.
In a fast-paced adventure-- over land, sea, and air-- playing it hot and heavy will only lead them straight into action!
Excerpt
Once in a while actors in the industry hooked-up and
marriages bloomed, but those were rare instances. In those cases, both parties
were aware of their partner’s job. Those in the business understood how
intimate feelings never entered a filmed scene.
At least with Moni they didn’t.
In the past, boyfriends accused her of cheating while she
worked in front of the camera. In each circumstance, the insecure man thought
she’d enjoyed herself a little too much. Most of the time she could barely
tolerate a co-stars’ megalomaniac ego.
Shit…there was a reason she’d won so many AVN Awards.
I’m a damn good
actress!
The very thing that had men attracted to her eventually drove
them away. Each and every time.

ReplyDeleteThe porn industry is one of the largest and yet has not had a lot of regulation for the actors. I'm glad to see that Jenna has done things to make it safer for them all.
ReplyDeleteShe's trying, from what I've read. Many actors are not speaking up as they're afraid of being black listed. Jenna Jamison doesn't worry about that! Thank you for stopping by, Melissa!!
DeleteI can understand why someone does't want to be blacklisted...but it's like watching a bar fight go too far... at some point, someone has to step in.
DeleteThat would be quite the industry to research! Thanks so much for hosting Sheri this week, Liza! Hope you have a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteIsn't it fun the stuff we get to research ;-) Great post - even if I'm here 4 days late.
ReplyDeleteThat's my fault. I actually researched this topic way back, not sure why, but I read back then that while they were starting to use condoms, when it came time for oral sex, the guy didn't use a condom because they need upclose shots of that. Hopefully, that has chanced, but I won't fall off my chair in a faint if it hasn't.
DeleteI'd love to one day write a blog post and have people share the top five items listed in their internet history. LOL
