Photojournalist Kayli Heddon is sent on an airboat safari for a photo essay and gets stranded deep in the Everglades with her ruggedly handsome guide. She is forced to learn some tough lessons -- namely, trust means everything in the dangerous River of Grass and a skilled partner can make all the difference in her survival.
Skye Landers takes the airboat safari gig as a favor to his cousin. He doesn't expect the governor's photographer to catch his eye, but Kayli Heddon is unlike any woman he has ever met. Skye knows he should keep his distance, but common sense goes out the window whenever he gets near her.
Unfortunately, Kayli thinks honesty is the most important thing in a relationship -- any relationship -- and Skye Landers is a fraud. When secrets surface from Skye’s past, Kayli and Skye are soon on the run from more than just alligators.
What a high action, romantic, dangerous, mystical novel!
I couldn’t have asked for more.
The Governor of Florida sends a young woman he sees as a daughter into the Everglades to take pictures of the Everglades. Tagging along, but not wanted, is a guy she had two dates with, Clay. He’s a staff member for the Governor and is a royal jerk. While Kylie wished she’d never dated him at all, she doesn’t contradict his claim that they are a couple when she ends up in the care of an annoyed, goodlooking, but scowling boat captain.
Kylie and 'Boat Captain' Skye don’t hit it off at first. In short order lots of sparks are flying. Some in anger, some from attraction, and some from danger. A big problem is that they both have hidden secrets they refuse to share, resulting in both believing the other will never forgive their hidden lies.
There is also some life-threatening moments with the drug cartels. Those guys believe in some serious revenge. However, my fav part is the revealing of Wren. I’ll say no more.
The visuals McCarty’s words create is fabulous. You will truly see the Everglades that she creates. The characters are not just three dimensional. They are FIVE dimensional, once you take into account their emotions and the mystical touch. And some of these five dimensional people are very scary dudes.
Petie spent a large part of her career working at Walt Disney World -- "The Most Magical Place on Earth" -- where she enjoyed working in the land of fairy tales by day and creating her own romantic fairy tales by night, including her new series, The Cinderella Romances. She eventually said good-bye to her "day" job to write her stories full-time. These days Petie spends her time writing sequels to her regency time-travel series, Lords in Time, and her mystery-romance-with-elements-of-suspense series, the Mystery Angel Romances.
Petie shares her home on the Cumberland Plateau in Tennessee with her horticulturist husband, a spoiled-rotten English Springer spaniel addicted to pimento-stuffed green olives, and a noisy Nanday conure named Sassy who made a cameo appearance in Angel to the Rescue.
